Dropps Smarter Laundry

41j3ubulczl_aa280_pibundle-3topright00_aa280_sh20_.jpgAll “green” and savvy moms know the importance of reducing our carbon footprint to help our environment.  Recently I have been really convicted about going green as my husband attended a conference comprised of major corporations determined to help conserve the earth.  With a preschooler and another baby on the way, I know how much laundry these stages require and the crazy amount of extra-special baby detergent that, truth be told, doesn’t work. But now I have discovered Dropps, a fabulous eco-friendly detergent alternative that almost makes doing laundry pleasurably purposeful. Created by an award-winning Philadelphia-based company that’s all about reducing wasted water and plastic, Dropps come in sealed, pre-measured packs that you toss right into the washer. No mess, no harsh chemicals or enzymes, no detergent bottles in the landfills.

Just lots of clean clothes.  If you need help feeling better about doing laundry everyday, this is it.  Just lots of clean clothes. If anything it can make you feel better about doing laundry everyday, this is it. mlvi1.gif

Crayola Color Wonder Books and Markers

41yl2qkf9-l_aa220_.jpgOver the weekend, I was at a friend’s house and her 2-year-old boy was sitting at his desk coloring.  As I watched him color, I noticed that the ink on the marker would only appear when he was coloring on the paper on his doodle pad.  I thought to myself, This is so cool, so I decided to do some research on this product and buy one for my son.  It’s called Color Wonder from Crayola, and its unique ink will only appear on its special paper. The ink is clear on most surfaces, but each marker “magically” shows up as a specific color on its Color Wonder paper. It allows your kiddies to explore the wonder of color and not make a mess!  Put away those magic erasers for your walls, furniture and floors!  Plus, these books and markers come in a variety of different Disney/Pixar packages (Cars, Princesses, Nemo and etc.) and the best part is that you can take it anywhere.  Use it in the car, a restaurant, at the park or even at the beach.  It provides long hours of great enjoyment for your child.  One down side is that the extra Color Wonder coloring pads are a bit on the expensive side, but I still think it’s worth it. mlvi1.gif

Aquatic Bobbers

41fkxasruwl_aa280_.jpgMy son loves these bath toys. He immerses them into the water and loves hearing them make bubble noises. As he holds them underwater the water fills up and they provide a wide variety of water straining activities. Also, the soft edges on the outer part give teething gums relief. It comes in a pack of two, one features a frog and the other features a fish. The animals bob back and forth when it’s just floating in the water, making it for an enjoyable sight. However, I noticed that after a couple of months of play in the water, the plastic started to discolor and get covered with soap scum. So, although the toys are great for a limited time only, you’re child will surely enjoy them.mtio2.gif

Can Of Peaches and a Salt Shaker!

This entry to the Group Writing Project #1 is from Celeste G.

Being that my kids are now almost all grown and in college I have one memory they still talk about today and two that we still do today when we are all together having a family dinner.

When they were little and it was bathtime — we would crack open some can’s of syrupy, sticky peaches — and they called it peaches the the tub time…for some that sounds gross — but my kids loved it –at the end of there bathtime, i would sit there and take a fork and feed them — with all the mess that it would create they were in the tub and it washed away… to this day they still talk about how much fun that was…I do it know when I babysit my nieces and nephews… who knows one day grandkid’s!!!

Now when we get together for dinner, (1 is married, 2 are in college, one is on her way out the door, to YWAM, leaving just one at home) :( We do two things: the first is the High / Low question… around the table everyone says either the High & the Low points going on in there life, or when they were at home, we did the High / Low of there day — it really connects the family as to where everyone one is and how they are really doing… you will be surprised, when you have created the safe place for them to talk, what comes out of this. Now we have a ton of talkers in our family (only one soft spoken out of 7) so we give who ever is talking the salt shaker and no one is to interrupt them when they share. This makes them feel special and all the attention is on them.

And the last one is our encouraging round — everyone takes a turn at speaking affirmation over each person at the table or around a fireplace, or somewhere when there is no distractions… it so awesome hearing my grown kids express there hearts to one another and they in turn build each other up…. and hopefully do the same when they leave the nest…

Well there are my few tips… what an honor to be called mommy it is…..

Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy by Swimways

51jwnxdcsl_aa280_.jpgSince my son was born in the sunny state of Florida, I took him swimming almost everyday to beat the heat! I cannot tell you how wonderful this product is. It’s very low maintenance—it folds easily into a small bag and the tube is not difficult to fill with air. It also has a removable canopy. The best thing about this is that it provides a low seat in the tube for the baby and I can freely move around with him in the pool without any hesitations or worries that he could fall through. It also has a large mesh ring around to allow him to play with toys to keep him occupied! Plus, the canopy provides additional protection from UV rays. All in all, this is a fabulous buy! Did I mention it’s only $20???mlvi1.gif

The “Ultimate” Throw

51zhqd80pzl_aa280_.jpg 61f4v07z7dl_aa280_.jpgAs the end of a cold and windy season of winter is approaching, we are longing for days to be spent outside surrounded by the sun and the warm weather. Last year, I bought this throw for my days in the park and I cannot tell you how useful it was. Not only is it large, measuring 84 by 54 inches, it’s also 100% cotton on top layer to provide cushioning. Underneath, it’s lined with a water-resistant nylon, providing protection from wetness. Pretty much this is the all weather blanket for long days in the park, picnics, and afternoons at the beach. Plus, it’s machine washable and dryable. The throw easily folds into a compact carrying sling with two side pockets and a Velcro closure and comfy shoulder straps. This lightweight throw by Tuffo is the perfect companion for every outdoor and indoor activity.mlvi1.gif

Sony DVPFX810 8″ Portable DVD Player Black

41kubejiobl_aa280_.jpgWhether it’s long road trips, holiday flights or the occasional restaurant outing where you just want to focus on eating and nothing else, a nice DVD player is a must have. Although it’s important to be picky, DVD players are notorious for a short lifespan, either by accident (water spillage or getting dropped) or by overuse. So, without breaking the bank, I think the best DVD player under $200 is the Sony Portable DVD Player. For its manageable price tag, it looks surprisingly sleek and sturdy, and although black is their best-selling unit, it can also be purchased in cherry red or pink. Obviously, the screen resolution is what you would expect from a typical LCD monitor. The Sony DVD’s greatest features are the long battery life (easily four hours with power left over), and its smooth, swiveling monitor screen. So, while your child enjoys watching another episode of Dora, you definitely will get your return on investment—and maybe some of your sanity as well. mlvi1.gif

Skip Hop Chow Baby Food Organizer

317x5sa7nvl_aa280_.jpgI must admit, I am a sucker when it comes to cute and trendy items especially if they help me organize my messy kitchen! I really believed that the Skip Hop Chow Baby Food Organizer would do the trick. Despite it being a cute little eye candy to my kitchen, there were a lot of downfalls to this product. First, not all baby food is contained in a round, glass jars (some are in plastic rectangular ones). Second, it only fits up to a dozen jars. When I go grocery shopping, I don’t only buy only 12 jars of baby food each time, I buy than that for the week. For that reason, I use up my shelf space anyway. Third, it’s pricey…it’s $24.00. All in all, found that it was not very practical nor was it a necessity to have in the kitchen.msdb1.gif

Crane Adorable One Gallon Cool Mist Humidifiers

418lrrdy6wl_aa280_.jpgInitially, I was attracted to the cuteness of this humidifier because it comes in many different animal shapes such as a frog, cow, penguin and even Hello Kitty! But for the child who has a cold, this humidifier works. It’s quiet, easy to use, very efficient (operates on a low power consumption providing up to 11 hours of moisture from a removable one gallon water tank) and cheap. It costs around $30. Plus, the filters are very cheap to replace. It’s a necessity for those long, cold winter months!mlvi1.gif
