Restoration Hardware Baby & Child Clothing

Not too long ago we announced the birth of Restoration Hardware’s Baby & Child. They have not disappointed us so far in their line of beautiful products. Today we start with their organic cotton baby apparel. Their Apparel line does not skimp on one detail of quality. The fabric is supberb, the stitching is perfect, and the style is classic, yet sleek and modern, while still avoiding looking like baby versions of adult clothing. The only down point is one that will be true of most Restoration Hardware products… the price. This dress and pajamas are moderately pricey at $30. The sweater is most definitely pricey at $79. However, If you have it, you get the quality that will last several hand-me-downs later, and more than likely it will still be in style as well. RH Baby & Child also has a precious shoe line, all shoes running $20-34.

Philips Avent SCD 590 Digital Two-Parent Baby Monitor
Philips introduces a baby monitor with a sleek design and new DECT technology. Heavily reliable, it gives complete peace of mind for parents. It has two small portable cordless parental units for moving freely around the house with visible link indicators that show continuous connection with the baby monitor. I love the cool design and it truly has clear reception and I haven’t encountered any static. The coolest feature of this monitor is that is also functions as a nightlight, which an array of stars light up. However, I have a couple of problems.
1) the volume, at its highest, is still relatively low
2) the battery life for the mobile parental units is short
3) it’s very pricey.

Green to Grow Bottles
With more concern for toxicity in plastic bottles, I have discovered a company called Green to Grow. They are a mom/dad combo who created a line of bisphenol-A and phthalates free bottles to keep kids healthy and to protect them from the dangers of toxic chemicals in bottles and promoting healthy alternatives. Cute design adorn the bottles, which are made from PES plastic, tested in the US to ensure the highest standards for quality and safety, and free of lead and PVC. They come in two sizes—wide neck and regular neck. The packaging is also 100% recyclable. Plus, all their silicone nipples are nitrosamine-free. However, I have to admit despite their innovative appeal, I was highly disappointed with their nipples. I tried both sizes and they were difficult for my son to latch on and the flow was way too fast for a beginner.
Nature Babycare Diaper
I read an article recently and it stated that 50 million disposable diapers enter landfills every day where they sit there for up to 500 years. That grasped my conscience, and I had to find an alternative method of diapering. Cloth diapering was simply too hard and G diapers proved too expensive. Thankfully, I discovered Nature Babycare, an award-winning ECO disposable diaper, which is kinder and gentler to your baby and the environment. Here are some features and benefits:
1) Chlorine-free absorbent
2) 100 % natural based back sheet
3) 100 % natural distribution layer
4) 100 % compost consumer
5) No latex, fragrance, or TBT (tributyl tin)
These five things reduce the green house effect since there is no plastic used! In addition, I cannot stop raving about the softness, the fit, comfort and its absorbent material. I have had no leaks so far! The diaper also reduces irritation on the baby’s skin, and works just as well (if not better) as traditional diapers.
Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush
My Step-mother, the clean-aholic, bought me this Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush while she was staying with me shortly after I had my latest newborn. Immediately I loved that it suctioned to the counter so that it did not have to lay on a counter only to create a puddle of water. Unfortunately after a few uses I felt it did not clean the bottle nipple well enough either. What I did not realize was that hidden inside the assembled bottle brush was a detachable bottom that contained a separate nipple brush! This is definitely an inventive, useful solution for those of us that have to use a bottle!
Duo Press Books
Duo Press books touts it products as “innovative books for curious children” and they do not disappoint! These fun books are perfect for the hip parent raising the hip child as well. They are not only fun board books for the smallest in your family, but also cool coffee table entertainers for your living room. 123 New York, and Sounds funny are only 2 of the titles sold by Duo Press and they leave me wanting more.
The Bright Side Of Disaster- Katherine Center
The Bright Side of Disaster by Katherine Center was the most entertaining mommy fiction I have read in quite awhile. The reader witnesses a metamorphisis as the main character struggles to figure out life with her baby shortly after being left alone to raise her. I found myself cheering her on and booing others. I laughed out loud and shed some tears along her journey. I have no doubt that any mother would find this book entertaining. I would rate it somewhere between PG-13 and R simply for it’s use of the “F” word and no other reason. All in all…
