Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time by Marla Taviano
When I ran across Changing Your World One Diaper at a Time by Marla Taviano online, I thought the title was pretty compelling, so I jumped in and purchased a copy. Hello, what mom doesn’t want to change the world?!! I loved every minute of the book, and because it was a pretty easy read, could even get through it even though I am in the stage where a 5-year old and 2-year old love doing the “mommy dance” throughout the house. You know the one…. shouting “Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy…..” while running circles around me constantly.
Actually, I found that this book was the perfect encouragement for me at the end of a long day. As I read Marla’s writing, I felt like I was sitting across the table from my best friend or my big sister, enjoying a cup of hot chai or coffee as she poured wisdom and understanding over me. What I loved most about this book is that she tackles numerous “hot topics”…. not giving trite answers but rather, pouring encouragement over her readers. From the transition from pregnancy to the newborn stage, breastfeeding to bottle feeding, dealing with in-laws, the stay-at-home vs. working mom debate, to adjustments in marriage…. she brings it all up! Not for the purpose of saying, “This is the way you have to do it,” rather, to allow the reader to wrestle and gain understanding for herself. Written from a Christian-perspective, Marla encourages moms to be grace-filled women, extending grace to others, even if they choose to mother from a different perspective.
This book really is written for moms with itty-bitties at home, but I still found it to be very beneficial as a mommy with kiddos who are a little older, too. It would be a great shower gift for your pregnant friend, too! All in all…. if you’re simply looking for a book that will encourage you in your mommy journey but not with a long “to do” list…. this is a great one!

is this feasible for moms working full-time outside of the home?
This book looks great! I’d love to win. I have a son who just turned 3 and a baby girl who just turned 1. It’s a handful but I love being home with them and this book likes like something right up my ally. Thanks.
Andrea
Sandra,
While I come from the SAHM perspective, I do believe that women who work full-time would still feel encouraged by this book as well. Marla makes no apologies for the fact that she has a stay-at-home bent, but there are many other topics covered outside of that debate (if you don’t like that section, you could always skip it, too!)
Would love a copy – esp. since it’s not at my local library and I have 2 under two. And I work 3 days/wk outside the home so I’d like to see if from the PT working mom perspective!
Sounds like a great book for new and old moms! Now that mine are out of diapers it might be as much for me, but I have many friends who still have kids in diapers and others that have some on the way! Great review Deanna!
This sounds like a fun read! I always enjoy hearing other mom’s experiences, especially since I’m a first-time SAHM to a 14-month old boy. Would be great to win a copy!
I HAVE to win this one! Not only do I promise to read it. . but I’ll pass it along and post about it on my blog. . does that help at all?!
Brandi
There are definitely times when I question whether or not I am being the best mom or not. This books sounds like a positive, uplifting one to read! My two sons are older also, but I am still their mother. Please enter me in your book drawing. I really appreciate it! Many thanks, Cindi

I would love to read this book. Any book that you can read with toddlers and babies around is very appealing to me. I have an almost two-year-old and an almost eight-month-old.

I would love to win this book. I collect books, on self help, and anything educational. I also have a homeschool library for my boys. I would love to win this book, as I need all the guidance I can get. I am a homeschool mom, a student double majoring in Art, I work full time 3rd shift as well. I would also like to share it with one of my close friends, who has a toddler, two middle schoolers and is a full time stay at home homeschool mom!
