Motherhood DVD, starring Uma Thurman

Motherhood.  I can’t imagine a single mother who wouldn’t be able to identify with this movie.  The madness, the insanity, the glory – you know what I mean.

Our heroine, played by Uma Thurman, is a former fiction writer-turned-blogger, and in a single day is faced with planning a birthday party for her daughter, fighting for parking space in her NYC neighborhood, looking after her elderly neighbor, caring for her toddler son, mending a rift with her best friend, and – among other things — an identity crisis.

It’s probably safe to say that every mother out there has experienced a breakdown moment (or perhaps a few?)  This movie will assure you that you are not alone.  Endless lists of to-do’s, mild crises that interrupt the schedule, days that blend into weeks that blend into months.  Yes, this is motherhood.

If you’re a gen-X or gen-Y gal, you have probably seen few, if any, positive yet realistic portrayals of a mom’s day-in-the-life.  Especially of the stay-at-home variety.

What took Hollywood so long?

I think this will be good. Glad you liked it, though I’m a fan of Diane Keaton’s Baby Boom, maybe making your own applesauce isn’t a career choice for everyone, but it funny and sweet.
