Artistic Pursuits

In an effort to give my children a well-rounded education, exposure to the arts is a must.  I love finding resources that help peak their interest as well as give me ideas to best inspire them.  Artistic Pursuits curriculum has been an encouraging source to refer to in an effort to teach my son various aspects of the visual arts.

K-3 kit 1

The Way They See It from Artistic Pursuits is the youngest curriculum book for ages k-3.  This spiral bound, seventy-three page study spans numerous lessons such as hand tracing, inventing a story, visual awareness, and more.  Our favorite has been the “discovering art projects”.  It touches on art history as well as gives me ideas on questions to ask him.  Although I took an art appreciation course in college, I must admit that I have become a bit hazy on the subject.  This particular lesson has been such a great help.  My son takes more of a liking to this project when I allow him to answer questions about the paintings as well.  Some of our other favorite projects are “visual note taking”, and “telling a story project”.  It’s amazing and so encouraging watching my two-half-year-old create projects from his own imagination.   I also appreciate the notes for parents which deal with better understanding your child’s own creations.

Artistic Pursuit is one of the best art curriculums I’ve come across for the preschool age.  They also offer art supply packs for purchase per lesson books.  How wonderful it is to have tools like these that do such a comprehensive job of introducing little ones to the visual arts!

This is probably too late, but I would love to win the book called, The Way They See It. My daughter is 3 1/2 and would most likely enjoy the activities. I have had my eye on this program and would love to try it and possibly use it as her curriculum later on.
    Thank you,
    Tracey
