One can never have too many handbags. Yes, they’re useful everyday, but they also can work to compliment an outfit so well. Now that I’m a mom, I think I’ve taken my appreciation (obsession?) to an entirely new level. Lately, I’ve loved perusing the selections from Mei Vintage, an environmentally conscious & handmade (in the USA) handbag line.

I recently nabbed the Weekend Tote (mine is natural, but it’s also available in black.) This simple carry all is made from hemp and leather remnants. Made in California & measuring 15″ long and 17″ high, this classic tote works well for a day away, or to simply hold everything you need for a running around with kids. The front pocket snaps shut, perfect for gloss and your phone. While I tend towards being practical (almost to a fault), Mei Vintage’s entire collection ranges from totes to lovely clutches; a piece for any occasion!

Mei, meaning “beautiful” in Chinese, wonderfully describes all of the designs in this collection. Beyond beauty in only the aesthetics, each piece is made from earth friendly materials and practices. Designer Alice Huang grew up in both LA and Hong Kong and brings this bi-cultural experience to her company. Each piece tells a story and beautifully blends cultures rich in art & diversity!
