Shabby Apple

Shabby Apple is an online boutique that sells their namesake clothing line of dresses.  Their philosophy, which I really admire, is centered around the one-piece dress on its own without the addition of countless layers for coverage and completion of a look.  They have a wide variety of dresses many of which are maternity friendly that are simplistically elegant on their own!

I was sent the “Tuxedo III” in a chocolate brown hue.  The name comes from the tuxedo shirt-like frills on the front of the piece as well as the ruffled collar.  The color is as gorgeous as the fabric, which is made primarily of linen, perfect for summer weather!  Best of all, because of the empire waistline, I can fit into this now at nearly 7 months pregnant!

Shabby Apple: great dresses that make dressing simple. Shabby Apple

I encourage moms to check out the Shabby Apple for some beautiful dresses that need no additions except a smile and perhaps a bit of jewelry!  Don’t be surprised at how great you feel in these dresses!

Bamboo Basics from Kicky Pants

No Gravatar

Not long ago, when the word bamboo was mentioned, all that came to my mind was a panda having a snack. Now that green is in, this highly sustainable, eco-friendly material has permeated most markets and kids’ clothing is no exception.  Unfortunately, too many companies think that green means boring. Fortunately, companies like Kicky Pants are here to save us from the bland!

Kicky Pants combines eco-friendly materials with fashion-friendly designs.  Their bamboo basics are as delicious as your baby. Forget ill-fitting onesies in itchy cotton-blends. The silky fabric (in bold colors and prints) hugs your peanut and keeps them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter (yes, bamboo is that awesome). The snug designs make your tiny one look and feel extra squeezable.

Let’s not leave mom out of the softness! They also have maternity pieces. Kicky Pants is sold at several retail locations as well as these online stores.

The only downside to bamboo fabric is that you should line dry for minimal shrinkage. But hey, shouldn’t we be saving energy anyway?

Nicole Bridger Maternity

Centered Top

A few months ago, I was introduced to the wonderful Vancouver based clothing line, Nicole Bridger.  This beautiful clothing line was started by its namesake, Nicole Bridger and in addition to being beyond chic, takes a socially conscious approach to every garment they create. What I failed to mention in my last review was how most pieces from Nicole Bridger can be worn easily during various stages of pregnancy!

The pieces I recently received were the “Centered Top” and the “Truth Blouse”  both of which I have no problem wearing at my current 6 month pregnant state.  I adore that these pieces make me feel comfortable and chic even if I am more robust than usual!

Truth Blouse

Nicole Bridger’s line come highly recommended to all those who love beautiful pieces made from organic materials and a lot of heart. I plan on purchasing a few pieces from this line as it is something I can wear just as easily post pregnancy as well!  Right now you can find UNBELIEVABLE deals on a few of her designer pieces.

Peek-a-boo Maternity and Nursing

No Gravatar

I find it hard to express myself fashionably while pregnant.  Either the maternity clothes I usually find are printed with too many designs or the price for classy apparel is atrocious.  However, I discovered a line that is simple enough for this unornamented dresser.  Peek-a-boo maternity and nursing collection is simple yet flattering to the body.

I have Peek-a-boo’s black tank top.  Their tops are awesome because each top can easily be transitioned from maternity to nursing.  My favorite feature to this top is that you cannot tell that it’s a nursing top.  There is also a cute little duck inside the garment that is only revealed while nursing.  This is a great reminder for the mom as to the last side she nursed on.  The side stitching helps hide my less favorable spots on my body that have grown through my pregnancy. Who wouldn’t love a top that does that?

Peek-a-boo is definitely one of my favorite maternity/nursing lines.  They carry all the basic pieces you would need throughout pregnancy and nursing.  Most of all, the pieces are durable enough to get you through each of these phases.

Baby Announcement Bands

What a great idea!  The uses for these bracelets, made of 100% silicone, are numerous.   They come individually or in a box of  10 for $21.99.  Parents could pass them out when the baby is born, or they would make a great baby shower prize/favor.  They come in either pink “It’s a girl”  or blue “It’s a boy”, and are reasonably priced for only $1.99 each. A soon-to-be mom or dad could wear them when they found out the gender. They would also make a great little addition to a baby gift.  Stock up and get creative with different ways to use them.

Mommy on the Go Diaper Bag

Am I the only one who has a hard time finding the “perfect” diaper bag? Several reasons…For functionality, the style gets sacrificed. For style, functionality is lost. But then, I discovered the Mommy on the Go Diaper bag! When I took a first glance online, I thought they were decent- looking. After I got it in the mail, the pictures online don’t give it justice. I have never received so many compliments on a diaper bag that I have carried in the past as I have on this one. What is better is that many moms (believe me, I have a ton of mommy friends!) are shocked when I begin to open up the bag and show how practical it is!

First off, the front pouch of the bag is removable. It is a bit larger than a wristlet and has it’s own strap. It can be used as a purse on its own or as a larger wallet for another larger purse. The front pocket acts like a wallet because it has slots for credit cards and IDs. The inside of the bag has pockets for sippy cups and bottles. It comes with a beautiful matching changing pad that is full of room for diapers and wipes in it’s fold out netted pockets. The changing pad when folded, is actually shaped like a little purse and could completely be carried on its own. The sides of the bag have great little pockets made perfectly to fit your cell phone or keys. The bag can be worn either with a shoulder strap or as a backpack.

Being the klutz that I am, I let a bottle with spoiled milk spill in my bag. That brought on two more tests for this fabulous bag. First, it proved to be waterproof. None of the liquid seeped through the bag! Second, it withstood machine washing! I took it out of the dryer and it was as good as new! (NOTE: They do not recommend machine washing but rather spot cleaning. As I could not remove the stench without a deep clean, I risked it and threw in the washing machine!)

This bag is eco-friendly as well. The outer lining of the bag is made with 100% recycled plastic bottles.

The bag retails at $180 so spend your saved pennies. It’s worth it to make your life as mom a little easier and more organized.

DREEM

“It all started in 2004 when I became pregnant with my first son and found it very difficult to find stylish tees to show off my bulging belly (that I was so proud of).  I searched high and low for something that made me feel sexy but everything I tried on fit me like a tent  (which isn’t a great feeling especially when your pregnant). I finally decided to launch my clothing line after becoming pregnant with my second son and deciding enough was enough and my DREEM was born. I decided to go further with my line after the birth of my second son.  I had worked so hard to get to that pre-pregnancy bod I wanted to show it off! I want my tees to scream, “I am confident, hip, and YES I am a MOM, can you believe it?” I want to thank the loves of my life: my baby boys and my husband who all inspire me everyday to be the best Mom and Wife in the world. “
-About Dreem, by Brooke Wall

Belli Threads & Little Threads

THIS CONTEST HAS NOW ENDED.  Congratulations Beverly on Winning!

“Belli Threads and Little Threads is the creation of Leslie-Anne Ball. A new mom herself, with one on the way, Leslie-Anne is aware of the fit and styles that best compliment a blossoming belly. All of the maternity tees are made with 100% cotton interlock, the cashmere of cottons. The baby items come in adorable gift boxes, perfect for a shower gift. And let’s not forget dad. The “proud new dad” caps are already a hit in many stores across North America. In fact, the entire line has been very successful with retailers. Leslie-Anne is thrilled to see the positive response to her designs and research efforts. “I really want women to enjoy their pregnancy, and a lot of that has to do with feeling good about the way you look”. With t-shirt phrases like “the baby made me eat it” expecting mom’s get to show off their sense of humour as well as their sense of style.” - Taken from Belli Threads.

When my Belli Threads & Little Threads Lil’ Bro, Big Bro, Lil’ Sis, and Big Sis shirts came in the mail I was delighted. These shirts screamed adorable! The print was perfect quality (I used to quality check t-shirt prints as a part of my previous career, so I know a little bit about printing.) The t-shirt they are printed on is made by American Apparel, which not only means they are of the highest quality, but also that they are made in the USA and sweatshop free!

My kids loved wearing their family status proudly. It even started conversations with people we met during the day. I can say with confidence…
