When Gerrit approached me to review a new short film website called SpiritClips.com, I gladly obliged. When I asked for more information, he pitched me this:

SpiritClips.com offers this original collection of short, inspirational, high-quality films for online streaming. All the films are available on a pay-per-view or subscription basis. People can also purchase “FilmCards” so that they can personalize any film as a gift to send to friends or family.
Every film, whether live action, animation or documentary, is created with the same craftsmanship and commitment to quality as a feature film. Each story pivots on a universal feeling or value and is intended to evoke a positive emotional reaction, hopefully inspiring the viewer to reflect on his or her own life and also to share the film experience with others.
10 films are currently available online, and SpiritClips’ intends to create and add a new film every month.

Users are encouraged to share their personal experiences and to submit their own inspirational stories which the filmmakers at SpiritClips will review and possibly adapt for a new SpiritClips film.”
Greatly intrigued, I asked for a trial membership. In my mind, I pictured some version of You Tube but with positive messages only. Boy, was I wrong! These films and this site are on a whole new level of quality. Film lovers make up the delightful community. Several of the short films left tears in my eyes. Spirit Clips is in no way comparable to You Tube. It’s on a league of its own.
The video card feature is my favorite. I love that you can send your friend a high-quality video card that could move and inspire them. I sent several to my friends.
I definitely think that if you love little films that move you, getting a membership to this site would be highly worthwhile. There are 3 types of memberships,

My husband and I celebrated our 6th Anniversary this weekend. Yeah! We treated ourselves to an amazing steak dinner at Stoney River and then went to see the movie, Fireproof. We figured that a movie encouraging marriage even during the “for worse” part, perfectly fit an anniversary. After all, these types of movies rarely come out of Hollywood.
At first, the story line jumped right into the middle of marital trouble. I thought maybe it would have been nice if they showed a few minutes of the courtship or wedding and then, skipped to the trouble. It did have a little flashback to the main female as a young girl asking her mom about getting married someday. That was sweet.
It was so sad to watch the marriage falling apart. I think many married people could relate to the fights and arguments that the main characters experienced. I definitely found myself cheering on the wife. My husband quickly defended the husband.
Ultimately,the husband does all he can to win back the love of his wife. It’s a touching story. A love story rarely told in Hollywood scene. A story that tells you to stick it out. A story that is upfront and despite love having great challenges, working through them is a blessing. In a society where divorce is the solution far too often, it is encouraging to watch a movie promote the opposite. I would say this is a “must see” for married couples.
During the movie, the challenge that Kirk Cameron’s character, Caleb, takes is called a “love dare”. It’s a journal that his father wrote for him. It includes a new concept of ways to love his mate everyday. This book has actually been published! I would recommend it for any marriage on the brink of destruction.
