I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. From there, I traveled to rural America and attended Indiana Wesleyan University. I completed my studies in Christian Ministries and Biblical Literature. After four rigorous years of learning about the church, I decided to pursue my interest in skin care and cosmetics. I have been working in makeup ever since!

My family made the move to New York City and it was here that my heart began to long for a child. Three years later, my husband and I were blessed with a baby boy. Along with all of its many joys, being a mother has fostered an interest in me for children’s products.

I love researching and trying new products. When it comes to my child’s health and cognitive development, I pursue the most functional and best designed products I can find. I get great pleasure sharing this research and hearing from others as well!

Some of my other loves include music, films, spending quality time with husband and friends, and long walks in Central Park.

I earned my B.A. in Linguistics and French from Rutgers University and spent most of my career as a communications advisor to corporate executives. This basically means lots of Power Point presentations, speech writing, and marketing plans to help translate corporate jargon into simple messages that people can actually understand.

I enjoy reviewing products almost as much as I enjoy reviewing restaurants (and eating in them). I believe that functionality and simplicity should go hand-in-hand. A great product is like a great dish: simple, fun, and refreshing.

As a mother of two with a seemingly endless list of to-do’s, I’m learning to simply bask in my children’s laughter (among a sea of toys on the living room rug), enjoy time alone with my husband (though piles of unfolded laundry await), and just relish every moment that’s been given to me.

Likes: espresso, foreign languages, Nutella.

Dislikes: raw onions, monolingualism, imitation Nutella.

I am a New Yorker with deep California roots.  As a child, I announced to my mother that I didn’t like the cold, white “sand” on a family ski trip to Lake Tahoe. Although I still prefer sunshine over snow, I have come to love living on the right coast. I grew up in the Central Valley of California and studied liberal arts at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  It was there that I met and married my wonderful husband and eventually our adventures led us to New York. I enjoyed performing musical theater and comedy for a couple of years right up until a month before our fabulous daughter was born.  My new audience of one is my favorite yet. I research research research the things that I buy for my little Bean and I love discovering surprising and beautiful products. Having a baby has busted my heart wide open and I have become even more driven to help the marginalized in my immediate area and beyond – especially women and children.  I have been published by Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse Jr. magazine.

I am a recovering restaurant addict who likes to try new recipes. I love reusing and recycling but stop short of worm-composting bins in my kitchen.  I own all 7 seasons of the West Wing and systematically watch them all year long. I love great theater, attachment-parenting and button-down shirts. I am a sucker for great packaging (that I will later recycle).

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.  CONGRATS TO PAM, YOU ARE THE WINNER!

If you’re on the hunt for baby gifts, baby shower favors, and baby gift ideas, Corner Stork Baby Gifts is a safe bet. It’s an online depot of products for the newest munchkin in your life. Clothes, shoes, blankets, keepsakes, toys… Many of their products can be personalized for that extra special touch. There’s even a category for sibling gifts!

I was sent a “Five Little Monkeys” 5-piece gift set (made by Baby Aspen) for review and was fairly pleased with the package. It comes with a plush toy monkey, a banana-shaped rattle, soft blankie, door hanger, and a natural wood basket… Who couldn’t use another container in the nursery? Best of all, it comes packaged in a white organza bag with satin drawstring – no wrapping necessary.

I’m drooling at the mouth. I have an incredible affinity toward all things Restoration Hardware. My house is painted the color of the store and I have purchased a “few” things as furniture. All my drapes come from there. They have just announced a new child of their own! Restoration Hardware for children! Oh Lord have mercy on my husband. :) Needless to say…mlvi1.gif
