Eco-friendly animals from Cate and Levi

What are your old sweaters doing these days? Mine are folded in storage or lining the shelves of a Goodwill somewhere.  Wherever yours are doing, it’s probably not as fun as what the old sweaters at Cate and Levi are doing. This eco-friendly, Canadian company is giving reclaimed wool a second life in its whimsical puppets and toys.

These delightful animals inspire creative play and offer a snuggly buddy for your child. The silly Walrus puppet had my daughter cracking up. One of my favorite features is the ribbed cuff on the neck of the puppet that gives it a snug fit.  It also felt great knowing that it had been responsibly made.

Cate and Levi uses only natural and reclaimed wool to create its one-of-a-kind items. Owner (and dad) Josh Title seeks to use materials that are sourced as locally as possible to minimize their carbon footprint. Ten percent of Cate and Levi’s profits are donated to children in need.

Be sure to check out the funky Pillow Pals and adorable Zoo Cubes. The Alligator pillow is a favorite of mine!

This is a perfect place to find gifts.  Because each piece is utterly unique, there is no chance of duplication.  Many of the items offer a choice of boy/girl when ordering to influence the color scheme.

Cate and Levi is offering a puppet to one of our readers! Simply visit their site and leave a comment here about your favorites.

Sweet Peanut

What mother doesn’t love elegant and sumptuously soft baby attire?  There is nothing quite like snuggling my kiddo when he has a super soft outfit on.  Sweet Peanut provides very soft, stylish, and comfortable clothing for newborns to toddlers. I was instantly impressed with the how much my son was able to move about freely in the outfit.  Their entire line is free of snaps and buttons allowing for quick and easy changes.  The designs are fresh and fun and all the fabrics used are made from 100 percent cotton.  My favorites from their spring season are the Café and Cool Morning Suits.  They are too adorable!  Their hoodies are also a definite must-have.  They instantly elevate your child’s wardrobe. Sweet Peanut has such great simple yet funky attire for your bambino.  Check them out!

Eco-Me Baby Wipes

baby_clean_wipes_largeEco-Me Baby Wipes gives an alternative approach to the standard same old same old pre-packaged stuff.  These are natural wipes, with no hidden chemicals.  Each kit contains a reusable/recyclable container, flushable wipes, distilled vinegar, and pure plant essential oils.  After mixing the contents, one should have 16 oz. of wipes on hand.

The DYI method here is straightforward:  fill, mix, and use.   But this was not a pleasant experience IMO.  Maybe it was the vinegar part (too pungent), or the essentials oil part (too fragrant), or the non-ease-of-use in having to twist the container open, pull out several toilet-paper-square-sized wipes, and twist container back closed.  Moreover, the aroma lingered on my hands a lot longer than I would have liked.  So, if you are sensitive to strong perfumes, this product is probably not for you.

Eco-Me Baby Wipes is most definitely not for me.  Eco-Me has a line of eco-friendly products which  you make yourself, and while I can see why eco-friendly is the “in thing” these days, a DIY approach for an item used in large quantities (like baby wipes) seemed a bit tedious.

Hooray for ImagiPLAY, a toy company whose products are all made from renewable, sustainable materials.  Their green toys aim to introduce children to the wonders of the natural world around them and nurture their sense of discovery.

The Elephant Rattle I was sent to review is handcrafted from managed forest Beechwood, sanded down for baby play and finished with beeswax.  It’s a delightfully simple, natural toy for little hands to explore ?and a nice change from the plastic stuff that ornament the toy aisles at the baby superstores.

ImagiPLAY carries a host of products that encourage curiosity of the natural world including rolling toddler toys, puzzles, bead mazes, craft kids, and building blocks.  And did I mention –  no plastic!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!  CONGRATS, THE WINNER IS MARIANNE!
There is something so special when a product comes about through an inspiration from real life. After researching about the Cleanwell products, I felt compelled to share it with everyone I knew. Cleanwell was inspired by a boy named Conner who was born with an immunodefiency disorder, which made everyday living activities life-threatening. A scraped knee, a cold, and contact with other children was hazardous to his health because only 10% of his immune system functioned. Sam, his father, was on a mission to find natural alternatives that are plant-based yet germ-killing agents. That’s how Cleanwell sprung forth. To read the whole story, click here. After 8 years of research and study, they developed and patented a unique formulation of essential plant oils that kills 99.99% of germs yet has no toxic chemicals. The secret ingredient is called Ingenium. Cleanwell is committed to producing products that are safe yet super effective (effective enough to kill E.Coli, Staph, and Salmonella)…
*Kills 99.99% of germs on contact
* Alcohol-free
* Triclosan-free
* Safe for kids
* Safe for sensitive skin
* Certified cruelty-free
* 100% biodegradable
Most “anti-bacterial” soaps use an agent called “triclosan” and it is alarming! Meet CleanWell. And say goodbye to germs naturally. Say NO to hazardous chemicals.

Cleanwell is graciously giving away ONE Starter pack of Spearmint Lime to ONE lucky randomly drawn Does Mommy Love It? reader. To enter, go visit Cleanwell and then leave a comment on this post. For additional entries:
